Help me choose maybe?

By xiaokhat - December 08, 2012

It's only been a week and 4 days since I lost my precious phone yet it feels like forever!

I am quite in a 'rush' to buy a new phone because:

  • The district convention will be next week and I want to take decent pictures with anyone I know and record the drama, and my lovely C3 can't do it!
  • We'll be out of town in a few weeks and I can't always ask my suplado brother to take a picture of this and that for me
Choices are:

  • Xperia Mini Pro = Php 6,400.00

The Mini Pro is actually the perfect phone for me. It has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard which makes typing easier. It has a nice 5mp rear cam which produces good quality images and records an HD 720p video (my brother said a real HD video is 1080p, yet based from my experience with the Xperia Pro, a 720p vid is already good), it also has a front facing camera which, although not good for taking self photos, would be good for video chats, and although it's quite an old phone, and won't have the JB update, I'm still happy with it. The problem? NO BRAND NEW UNIT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE! And I don't want to buy a second hand phone.

  • Xperia Sola = Php 9,200.00

I like it because it has the same features that I liked with the Mini Pro, except for the QWERTY keyboard, obviously. Bonus features are the NFC tags and the floating touch thing, which is really unique and cool! Plus I read somewhere that it's going to get a JB upgrade sometime next year. Problem? It doesn't have a front cam, the only thing JJ requires for a phone.

  • Xperia U = Php 7,990.00

Why I like it? Same thing, it has a 5mp cam and records HD videos (720p), it also has a front facing cam and has a 4gb internal memory and a dual core processor. Perfect? Not yet. Although the internal memory is already good, the problem is it doesn't have any microSD slot, which means I'm forever stuck with the 4gb internal memory. Almost perfect. Too bad they have a pink unit!!!

  • Xperia P = Php 11,300.00
Oohh I love this phone. It sports a 12mp rear cam which produce HQ images and records a full HD vid (1080p). The cam has the Exmor R thing which makes the images look decent even on low light situations. (I know how cool that thing is since my forever lost Xperia Pro have that.) It also has a front facing cam, which is still good even though it's only VGA. The display is really vivid, aside from having the bravia engine thing, watching videos on full HD would really be cool with this phone. Also, it supports NFC which is a bonus. Perfect right? The only problem is the price. I know it's already good for a really good phone, but I don't want to buy a phone which costs more than ten thousand. I don't want to go through that painful process of losing a phone again! Oh no, I hope it'll drop price next week!

  • Xperia Go = Php 9,100.00

Another cool phone! It's water and dust resistant meaning I can use it even while taking a shower. Bwahahahaha! (Or maybe while doing the laundry, or washing the dishes, or even while swimming!) Since it's water resistant, it can take photos with its 5mp cam or shoot 720p videos underwater. The problem? It doesn't have a front facing cam.

  • Xperia Acro S = Php 17,000.00

The most perfect phone ever! It's pink, and waterproof! Plus, it has a 12.1mp rear camera with Exmor R and records 1080p videos. It has a 1.3mp front cam, perfect for video calls and self shots and recording 720p videos. It has an internal storage of 16gb and expandable up to 32gb micro SD card. What more can I ask for? The only problem is, same as the Xperia P, the price. Actually, compared with its price three months ago, it's now cheaper. But, like what I said, I.DON'T.WANT TO.BUY.A PHONE.WHICH.COSTS.MORE THAN.TEN.THOUSAND.PESOS. Sad.

Last option!!!

  • Xperia Neo L = Php 8,800.00

Supposedly the perfect choice where my wants and Jj's wants are combined.
  1. 5mp rear cam capable of recording 720p vids
  2. front facing cam
  3. 1gb internal memory (not bad coz Xperia Pro has less that 1gb)
  4. good price!
Problem? It's exactly the same phone miss Julz has! And, ayoko ng may kaparehas ng phone sa office! Maarte lang, baket?

So yeah, there's a lot of option yet it's really difficult to choose. I know there are a lot of other smartphones there in the market, why am I limiting myself with Sony? It's actually because I don't like Samsung or any other Android phones. Sony's UI is much similar with iPhone, neat and organized. (Sorry, nahihilo talaga ako sa UI ng samsung, kahit sa s3 or sa note2.) Plus I like the cam quality of the majority of Sony smartphones, so I think I'll be stuck with Sony forever.
