Bolinao Escape

By xiaokhat - March 31, 2013

"Where I want to go this month:" That welcomed me on my planner as March begun. I wrote there "somewhere in the north" hoping I'd go to Baguio this month. Sadly, I wasn't able to go to Baguio this month, but still, my "goal"of going somewhere in the north is achieved!

I've never heard of Bolinao before, I swear! I don't even know where that is! I've no idea how mum knew Bolinao but it all started last week, like less than 7 days before the target travel date. I just learned stuff about the place like a night before we leave.

Bolinao's on the tip of West Pangasinan. Travelling from Biñan to Bolinao took us roughly 5 hours, including a few stops. We left home at around 4 am plus it was already Good Friday, so the traffic's really light that time.

We stayed at El Pescador for about a day. The place is really near South China Sea, plus it has a pool, so you at least have options on where to swim. The rooms are Spanish-themed; bricked walls, solid wood furniture, and it's like you'll see shades of brown anywhere you look! You can also opt to stay at the kubo. I've no idea how much a night's stay is, but it really looks cool to stay in one of those kubos. However, the bathroom's outside the kubo, plus two kubos share one bathroom, so it's a bit of hassle. They said that the use of pool would cost you Php 200 if you booked a room in the resort, but when we checked out, they didn't charge us any.

seaside dinner: sinigang na hipon + breaded porkchop

The food they serve is also good, but not the best. We had sweet and sour pork + pinakbet for lunch, and sinigang na hipon  + breaded porkchop for dinner. We had our dinner by the sea, the ambiance was really good, and we used the cottage for free! Haha!!!

So, there it is! I can't think of anything else. El Pescador (I always mistakenly say El Pasador! Haha!!!) isn't the best place to stay in Bolinao, but if you're planning to visit there sometime soon, El Pescador is still a good place to be in. (Most especially when they finished building the hotel!)
