Pre-holiday Getaway

By xiaokhat - December 28, 2015

I had an early five-day holiday even before the official holidays begin

because my family went to an out-of-the country trip to Hong Kong and Macau. It was my third time in Hong Kong, and I already feel confident travelling there alone sometime in the future.

Second time at the happiest place on earth

Friday, we visited Disneyland for the second time, yet it still feels my first time. Since we visited a few weeks earlier than the holiday season, the crowd is still not that many compared to when we first visited here, which was during the summer holidays. I wasn't able to take photos again with the Disney characters, but that's fine as at least I had a chance to experience all the other attractions they had.

My favorite attraction is at the Stitch Encounter! Inside the space station, you get a chance to talk with the lovable alien Stitch! The Disneyland website claims that the encounter is not scripted, which what makes it amazing. Stitch chooses the people to talk to, even takes photos of them! It's really cute! The best thing is that the program is in English,

The next attraction I liked is The Festival of The Lion King. We didn't get to try this the first time we visited Disneyland, and we never heard of this actually. We just basically saw this on the map so we decided to give it a try, and we're not disappointed! Words are really not enough to describe the show.

Here's a clip from The Festival of the Lion King in Disneyland

Woohoo!!! I got a high score in Astro Blasters!

Yep, I'm driving at nearly 100 kph in Autopia

Our park ticket comes with a free lunch. The rule when it comes to free food is: order the most expensive on the menu!
Cutie rice tho...

Pekto and Julie Ann were filming a segment for, I don't know which show. But I still took the opportunity to take photos with them. Hahaha!!!! (Oh it's too obvious that I don't watch TV that much)

On Saturday, we went to Ngong Ping Village, which is accessible via a cable car. There are two cable car options, Standard Cabin, and Crystal Cabin. The Crystal Cabin features a glass floor which lets you see the view from the bottom. It is in this village where you can see the gigantic buddha statue. To reach the statue, you have to climb 258 steps. The peak provides a 360 view of the whole Ngong Ping Village. Since it was winter when we went there, the weather was really cold, so it is advisable to wear really thick clothes.

Welcome to Ngong Ping Village!

The biggest surprise I had when we went to Ngong Ping is that they have teamed up with Sanrio to give visitors a cute Hello Kitty experience! For me, the Hello Kitty decorations around the village is enough to enjoy the trip.

I should've worn my Hello Kitty sweater in Saturday, instead on Thursday!

Should've not hosted photos on Facebook. I can't download the photo in its original resolution!

I did it! I climbed 258 steps!! This is an achievement!

Sunday, we headed to Macau. We got lost on our way to the hotel that we didn't realize we had toured the whole Macau! We spent the evening attending Christian meetings. The weather in Macau was colder than in Hong Kong that I had fever that evening. But that didn't stop me! Monday, we went to The Venetian and spent the day there. It's my second time at The Venetian, and it's always a must to bring money with you as there are always items on sale. (When I say sale, that means the prices are actually cheaper than the prices back home, even after peso coversion!)  Then we took advantage of the hotel shuttle buses and we went to The Coloane Resort, situated by the mountainside. The place is quiet and serene, compared to The Venetian as there are no shopping stores nor casinos, but it is a relaxing place indeed. It seems to be a good place to stay if you're staying away from the noise and lights of the city.

Doesn't look sick eh?

I'm seriously freezing!!!

I soooo love the stairs!

小布 at The Venetian

We asked for a cup of water and they gave us this grande mug. (with hot water, of course) Since the water was really hot, I mentioned that it could go best with instant coffee, and mum actually had one! Now, who said you can't have Nescafe in SB?
PS: This was at The Venetian ;)

So there goes my pre-holiday getway, the most stressful trip I had. Next time, I'd rather travel alone or with my friends, for a change. Oh, and I want to visit a new place as well. :)
