New seafood place to try in the south

By xiaokhat - December 26, 2016

One of the best things of living in the south is that most of the best quick getaway spots are accessible. Tagaytay is one of those. On really lazy (maybe add humid) days, it's really tempting to go out and drive there to unwind and relax. However, the holiday season is one of the days you should really avoid Tagaytay or any nearby place as an hour drive becomes a 3 to 4-hour nightmare.

We learned that lesson until we were hangry.

December 25th, my family planned to have lunch in Tagaytay. We knew traffic will be heavy, but we never realized enough that it would be that heavy that our lunch became early dinner.

Thanks to that heavy traffic, we discovered a new foodie place: Ka Rey's Seafood Restaurant.

Outside, the place looks like a joke. I mean, I am used to those restaurants with grand facades and all, but this place looks secluded, blended well among the neighborhood that you wouldn't even think this is a resto. Yeah, don't judge a book by its cover. 😝

Inside, the place feels cozy. It gives off this feeling that you're out there in a province far from the hustle and bustle of the city. It can only accommodate a number of guests. They have this barefoot policy although some guests were pasaway and still wear their shoes inside.

Those who have kids need not to worry as the resto offers a place for kids to play in. Just make sure they don't bring any home. 😜

They serve a variety of dishes even though this is a seafood restaurant. I'm not fond of seafood though so I ordered something else. They offer unlimited meals: unlimited rice and iced tea + soup + ulam + dessert for only 199 pesos.

If it wasn't for that unlimited rice tarp that we saw along Aguinaldo Hiway, we wouldn't discover this place. Here's the map for you not to get lost.
