Eating on the bathtub sounds normal still. What about sipping your iced tea from a urinal or washing your hands on a toilet, and then eating shit? Sounds exciting?
That was exactly what we did during our visit in Boracay a couple of days ago. I have read numerous articles about this place and this place is really a part of the itinerary. (Well at least for me. I have to convince my mom to eat there.)
Boracay Toilet got its inspiration from Taiwan's Modern Toilet restaurant. (At least you don't have to go to TW just to experience eating in the toilet 😉) The restaurant occupies the second and third floors of the building. Handwritings cover the walls going up the restaurant. Inspired by common restroom walls, this is actually the place you can legally vandalize walls! You have to bring a marker or colored/bright pens with you though if you really want to leave your mark on that spot.

The restaurant interior is designed perfectly for IG and photo ops. There is even a dedicated "photobooth" spot - a toilet so big you could actually go inside!

Even the chairs and tables follow the quirky toilet theme. The tables are either made from bathtubs or sinks. All are with a glass top so you could see what's down there. Guests could slip their comments in the tub for others to see/read. The chairs are all real toilets with customized covers. Before we get seated, the staff advised us to sit on the covers, not on the toilet itself to prevent it from breaking.

The restaurant serves Filipino dishes, all names given a twist not quite appealing to your appetite. Some of the names I remember are Kare-kaDire, PEE-stek Tagalog, Inihaw na Liem-POOP, all written on a toilet-shaped menu. I didn't get a chance to take a photo of it but you can always google it if you want to. 😉 (and only one photo because everyone was hungry, and we were occupying two tables, so it's a hassle to take a photo of every food from the other table.)
no before, just after 🍴 |
Food is served on colorful toilet bowls or mini bathtubs. The plates look similar to a toilet sink while the drinks are served in a urinal.
Food quality is average. Comparing the quality to its price, food here is pretty expensive. You're really paying for the place, not the food itself.
Curious if they have a real toilet you could use? Of course they do! Located on the third floor, the restroom is gender-neutral, avoiding all confusions.

Boracay Toilet is located at Station 1. We were coming from Station 3 so we have to ride the e-trike to get there; fare is Php 70.00. The place is quite near the beach, which can help you gain your appetite if ever you lose it. 😂
All-in-all, it was a fun experience. I'm not sure if I could go back there again but at least we get to experience eating out of the toilet. 🚾
